K+MU
Joanne has had her salon since 2014 when she took it over from her mum. I was tasked with transforming the brand into a modern, fresh and clinical identity, to reflect the salons high standards and welcoming atmosphere. Joanne also wanted to shorten the name, abbreviating it to K&MU, which we then changed to K+MU to fit in with the clinical and minimalistic feel.
The new minimalistic logo, the colours, typography, composition and application of the branding is so important in bringing it all together into a cohesive identity. Along with the new brand identity, I also worked on a new website, leaflet design, POS posters and business card design.
Pain Points
The brand name "Kiss and Makeup" felt outdated and no longer fitted with the modern image and salon
The previous pink branding felt like everything other salon, it didn't feel special or stand out
Branding was inconsistent across touch points
The Solutions
The new brand name K+MU feels modern, simple and fits with the brand more clinical approach
The colour palette is memorable and stands out in a sea of pink branded competitors
Consistent branding was rolled out across all touch points including the salon shop front
"Nothing was too much bother, so prompt and fully understood what I was looking for. Can’t thank Eilidh enough. She is so good at her job, so professional. Everything was done so quickly and she knew exactly what I was looking for. She gave lots of different options. Such a lovely girl, very approachable & will definitely recommend."
